RIAU - The Riau Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) appealed to residents not to raise long-tailed monkeys or monkeys. The wildlife is considered to tend to be aggressive.

Head of the Riau BKSDA Section, Dicky Indra Prasetya, said the appeal was following a long-tailed monkey that was allegedly kept disturbing the residential environment in Riau.

"The tendency of long-tailed monkeys, even though they are kept from childhood, when they grow up and reach sexual maturity, these animals will tend to be aggressive. So we urge people not to care for these animals," said Dicky in Batam, Riau Islands (Kepri), Wednesday, January 11, as reported by Antara.

Dicky explained that his party is currently still trying to arrest the monkey who is considered disturbing.

He said reports like this were usually responded to by the evacuation of moving the monkey into its habitat forest.

According to him, this long tail still includes wild animals that are different from domestic animals such as dogs and cats.

"Domestic animals (dogs and cats) have indeed lost their wild nature. Even though they are tame, they still have wild properties that sometimes appear and are dangerous. So we have to catch like it or not so as not to endanger the community," he said.

In addition, his party will also confirm whether the monkey is a pet or if it is a wild animal that comes to residential areas to find food.

"If it is a pet, it means we need to trace it to the party that keeps it. Why did it come out?" he said.
