Nasrul Abit Sues West Sumatra Gubernatorial Election Results To The Constitutional Court, Asking Mahyeldi's Victory To Be Annulled By Setting Zero Votes

JAKARTA - West Sumatra gubernatorial candidate pair Nasrul Abit-Indra Catri filed a lawsuit against the results of the West Sumatra Governor Election (Pilgub) to the Constitutional Court (MK). Nasrul Abit, who was promoted by Gerindra, asked for the victory of the candidate pair Mahyeldi-Audy Joinaldy, who was promoted by PKS and PPP, to be annulled.

The request for a dispute over the results of the Pilkada was registered with the Constitutional Court, Wednesday, December 23. In his petition, the Petitioner presented a table for the determination of the results of the calculation of the votes acquired by the 2020 West Sumatra governor and deputy governor candidates with the votes acquired by each pair of candidates as follows:

1. Mulyadi-Ali Mukhni: 614,447

2. Nasrul Abit-Indra Catri: 679,069

3. Fakhrizal-Genius Umar: 220,893

4. Mahyeldi-Audy Joinaldy: 726,853

"Based on the table above, the applicant is in second place with a total of 679,069 votes," said the contents of the request for the West Sumatra Governor Election lawsuit seen by VOI from the Court's website.

Furthermore Nasrul Abit explained the correct vote count according to the Petitioner, namely:

1. Mulyadi-Ali Mukhni: 614,447

2. Nasrul Abit-Indra Catri: 679,069

3. Fakhrizal-Genius Umar: 220,893

4. Mahyeldi-Audy Joinaldy: 0

"Based on the table above, candidate pair number 4 Mahyeldi and Audy Joinaldy were disqualified so that their votes were annulled to zero votes," said Nasrul Abit's petition.

According to the petitioner, the decision of the respondent, namely KPU number 113 / PL.02.06-Kpt / 13 / Prov / XII / 2020 concerning the Determination of the Recapitulation of the Vote Count Results of the West Sumatra Pilgub Pilgub on December 20, 2020, was legally flawed. He asked the Constitutional Court to annul the votes acquired by the candidate pairs Mahyeldi and Audy Joinaldy so that it would be zero votes.

"Because of the violations that have been committed by the defendant and candidate pair number 4 Mahyeldi-Audy Joinaldy, which was structured, systematic and massive in the West Sumatra Pilgub," he said.

The candidate pair Mulyadi-Ali Mukhni also registered the lawsuit on the results of the West Sumatra Governor Election. However, there was no detailed explanation regarding the losses of the candidate pairs related to the vote acquisition in the West Sumatra Pilgub in the petition submitted to the Constitutional Court.
