SURABAYA - Political Observer of the Surabaya Survey Center (SSC), Mochtar W. Oetomo, assessed that Tri Rismaharini's position as Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) could continue as the Governor of DKI in 2024. In fact, Risma's political steps in the future could also become Governor of East Java.

"Of course, from a political point of view, it could be Risma's bridge to DKI, it could also be the Governor of East Java, even a political constellation in 2024. It depends on the political situation later," Mochtar was contacted, Wednesday, December 23.

According to Mochtar, Risma's position as Social Minister could build her next political career. Moreover, Risma is often linked with the 2024 Pilkada contest, both for the Jakarta Pilgub and the East Java Pilgub.

"However, Risma must prove that she is capable of being Social Minister. For example, her vision and mission as Social Minister, achievements and achievements. Because with this new position, Risma has a much bigger and wider political stage," Mochtar said.

Apart from all that, continued Mochtar, the appointment of Risma as Social Minister is also a mandate that is not light. There are so many PR and challenges that must be answered, to be able to answer public expectations.

First, as Social Minister Risma will immediately face a complicated social situation. The COVID-19 pandemic, which is still far from over, leaves many social problems that need attention and resolution.

"In addition, now we enter months with unpredictable weather and rainfall, which allows many natural disasters and disasters to emerge," he said.

Second, Risma as the new Minister of Social Affairs has to face various internal ministry problems, which were left by the previous Minister of Social Affairs to make him exposed to the KPK OTT. "Coordination, consolidation and various internal reforms of the ministry is certainly not an easy thing and requires its own energy," Mochtar continued.

As Social Minister, according to the man who is also an academic at Trunojoyo Madura University, Risma has no choice but to face the self-image of the Ministry of Social Affairs, which can be said to be at a nadir point with various cases that ensnared Social Affairs and Social Affairs previously. "At least Risma must prove that the Ministry of Social Affairs will be cleaner and more integrated in the future," Mochtar explained.
