Language Office: Not All Regional Governments Love Indonesian Language

NTB - Head of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Language Office Puji Retno Hardiningtyas expressed his love for the language of unity has not yet been realized within the local government (Pemda) in Indonesia.

"This is one of the indications of the results of our monitoring and supervision in the field, it seems that not all local governments (local governments) love Indonesian," he said in his presentation of the achievements of his agency program in Mataram, NTB, Friday, December 30, as reported by Antara.

Puji said the NTB Provincial Language Office in 2022 had signed the memorandum of the Governor of NTB Zulkieflimansyah regarding the application of the 'Trigatra Build Language' program on September 27, 2022. The program refers to prioritizing Indonesian, preserving regional languages, and mastering foreign languages.

In addition, assistance is provided to 45 regional apparatus organizations, including educational institutions and private institutions related to the language in public spaces, government and institutional nameplates.

"Our assistance will be carried out until 2024. This means that in one year we will accompany 15 regional apparatus organizations (OPD) and institutions, for this year 15, then 2023 and 2024 as well as 15," he said.

According to him, in the assistance of 15 OPDs and institutions this year, improvements were made to the application of the Language Build Trigatra.

For example, on one body nameplate, you must write a name in Indonesian with a larger font size, then a regional language, followed by a foreign language with a smaller letter size.

"For example, at SMAN 2 Sumbawa the use of institutional boards in Indonesian and English is good, but it does not contain the script for the Sumbawa jontal," he said.

This, he said, is still the PR (homework) of the Language Office to continue to provide assistance and evaluation, promotion, and provide examples so that OPDs and government and private institutions can replace correct writing by implementing the Bangun Bahasa Trigatra.

On the other hand, Retno said, in this case, the Language Office certainly cannot run alone, but it needs cooperation from all parties and support from the government to make policies or regulations related to the application of the Language Build Trigatra.

"Hopefully, in the future the Trigatra Bangun Bahasa in the NTB Region can be applied optimally, as a proof of love for Indonesian," he said.
