Commission III Of The DPR Asked The Deputy Chief Of Police To Clarify The Allegation Of Lighting The Demotion Of Kombes Rizal In The Richard Mille Hand Watch Case

Member of Commission III of the DPR from the Democratic Faction, Hinca Pandjaitan, asked for clarification from the National Police regarding the alleged intervention in the decision of the Police Code of Ethics Commission against police who committed extortion.

"First, there is a big problem within the Police, and it relates to the integrity of the National Police personnel," Hinca told reporters, Monday, December 26.

This was said by Hinca regarding the suspicion that the Deputy Chief of Police, Komjen Pol Gatot Edy Pramono, interfered with the demotion sanctions of Kombes Rizal Irawan from five years of demotion to one year. Kombes Rizal is the perpetrator of extortion for the fraud case of Richard Mille's luxury watch fraud case, Tony Sutrisno.

He also questioned the motivation of Komjen Gatot to grant the appeal of Kombes Rizal Irawan. According to him, the cutting of Kombes Rizal Irawan's demotion period was very unfair and was against the ethics of the police.

"Even though there is an appeal mechanism for the Deputy Chief of Police, because this integrity issue involves not one or two people, of course this is unfair and violates ethics itself. Therefore, the Deputy Chief of Police must explain to the public why and what the reason is," said Hinca.

Hinca said that Commission III of the DPR would hold a working meeting with the National Police Chief and his staff in the upcoming meeting. On that occasion, he confirmed that he would ask the Deputy Chief of Police and the Head of the Propam Division to open a sequence of issues of alleged extortion so as not to cause misunderstandings.

"Before I have a meeting with the National Police Chief, the Deputy Chief of Police should be able to explain this public question. In addition, the Head of the Propam Division who knows this must also open and explain because this has become a public case," said Hinca.

Hinca assessed that the public must know the reason why the Deputy Chief of Police, Komjen Gatot Eddy Pramono, received an appeal from Kombes Rizal Irawan. The action, according to him, shows that the Deputy Chief of Police has given different treatment to other personnel who are also perpetrators of extortion.

"The Deputy Chief of Police has been urged like this to explain, can't or can't," he concluded.

For information, to this day the Deputy Chief of Police, Komjen Pol Gatot Eddy Pramono, has not responded to a request for confirmation regarding the alleged relief from the demotion of Kombes Rizal Irawan. The Head of the Propam Police Division, Inspector General Pol Syahar Diantono, also never gave an answer when confirmed about this.
