Presidential Chief of Staff Dr. Moeldoko emphasized the importance of women's groups making the best use of digital economic space to improve the welfare and economic contribution of women in national development. Namely by increasing capabilities, especially in the digital sector.

Moeldoko conveyed this regarding the commemoration of Mother's Day which falls on Thursday, December 22. "Mother's Day must be a momentum for women groups to be more empowered and prosperous, by utilizing the best digital economy space," said Moeldoko, at the Bina Graha building, Jakarta, Friday, December 23.

According to Moeldoko, digital skills are still a major problem for women's economic groups. This, he said, made many women-run businesses, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) unable to survive during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In fact, continued Moeldoko, around 37 million or 64.5 percent of MSMEs in Indonesia are owned and managed by women's groups. "It's time for these female group MSMEs to carry out digital transformation to advance to class," he exclaimed.

The 2013-2015 TNI Commander also said that national development cannot be separated from the role of women. Moreover, based on a World Bank study, 70 percent of women in Indonesia have a productive age of 15 64 years. In addition, a 25 percent increase in women's participation in labor by 2025 is estimated to be able to grow Indonesia's GDP by 2.9 percent.

Moeldoko also called for all stakeholders to provide the same space for women to participate, release the stigma and discrimination that has been in the midst of society.

"Public spaces are not only the dominance of men. Women also have the same right to be seen in national development," he said.

"Strengthening this role will encourage women to become more empowered, for the sake of Indonesia's progress," concluded Moeldoko.
