JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya together with Kodam Jaya and the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta held the Apple Candle Jaya 2020 Operation Forces in the National Monument (Monas) area. Apples to ensure security readiness ahead of Christmas and New Year.

Operation Candle is held for two weeks from 21 December to 4 January. The troop apples were also attended by Pangdam Jaya Maj. Gen. TNI Dudung Abdurachman and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta A. Riza Patria.

Merto Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Fadil Imran, who led the rally, said that around 8,179 joint personnel were deployed to secure Christmas and New Year celebrations. In addition, Operation Lilin this time also aims to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

"The atmosphere of the candle operation this year will be very different. We Polda Metro Jaya will carry out wax operations plus humanitarian operations in the form of services to control or break the chain of COVID-19, as well as social services to ease the community," said Inspector General Fadil at the National Monument ( Monas), Monday, December 21.

Fadil hopes Operation Candle can play a role in reducing the number of COVID-19 transmission after the Christmas and New Year holidays. In addition, the successful handling of COVID-19 must also be accompanied by the role of the community who applies health protocols.

"Avoid crowds, there are no celebrations that cause crowds, so that health can lead to a healthy Jakarta, a safe Jakarta that we can create together," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Riza Patria said that people are prohibited from holding Christmas and New Year celebrations. This refers to the Governor's Instruction (Ingub) that has been issued.

"Especially in the context of the end of the year and Christmas, we have issued Ingub and the governor's appeal, including not carrying out new year celebration activities like previous years," he said.

Riza appealed to the public to stay at home during the holidays. That way, the transmission rate is getting under control and can quickly get out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Hopefully we can celebrate Christmas this year with wisdom and peace, and also celebrate the end of the new year with joy," said Riza.

"One of the requirements to be free from COVID-19 includes having to be happy, happy, hopefully this year's Nataru (Christmas-New Year) celebration can contribute to making us happy," he continued.
