KPK Always Do 2 This After Enforcement Operations

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) emphasized that it does not only take action, including hand arrest operations (OTT). Anti-corruption prevention and education have been carried out so far to eradicate corruption.

"We have realized this from every KPK that we take action to arrest or handle corruption cases in a certain area or sector, we immediately rush to make various efforts to prevent or approach anti-corruption education," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Wednesday, December 21.

Ali gave an example of the KPK intensively assisting local governments through the Monitoring Center for Prevention (MCP) instrument. This step was taken after many silent operations ensnared regional heads.

The point prone to corruption is also continuously identified by the KPK, one of which is through the Integrity Assessment Survey (SPI). "From these findings, we then encourage and monitor efforts to prevent corruption in the region and in the sector," he said.

Next, the KPK provides corruption prevention for business actors. Ali said this step was taken because state administrators and regional heads often had bad consensus with businessmen.

Another prevention taken by the KPK is to encourage the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) to improve the student admission system. This step was taken after the KPK arrested the Chancellor of Lampung University (Unila), Karomani.

"Similarly, corruption related to case management in the judiciary. The KPK has conducted a study related to case management at the District Court and High Court levels. This is a form of the KPK to fully support the strengthening of law enforcement in Indonesia which is clean and free from corruption," Ali explained.

"Even the KPK has been anticipatory in accelerating efforts to prevent and educate before the corruption crime occurs," he continued.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan previously reminded the KPK not to take action often. According to him, prevention should be carried out more optimally.

"We just want to clean up really in heaven. So the KPK shouldn't catch a little bit. That's not good either, yes, look around," Luhut said in his speech at the Launch of Corruption Prevention Action 2023-2024 in the Central Jakarta area, Tuesday, December 20.

Not only that, Luhut also considers that the hand-catching operation (OTT) that is often carried out by the anti-corruption commission also has a bad impact. So, he said, all procurement should be digitized so that corruption prevention can be carried out.

"OTT, OTT is actually a good end for this country, it's really bad, that's it. But if digitalizes who wants to fight us," he said.
