PP Perisa Request COVID-19 Halal Vaccine Guarantee

JAKARTA - Secretary General of Syarikat Islam Syarikat Defense (Perisai) Secretary General Harjono requested that the Sinovac vaccine in Indonesia be certified halal, before being given to the public. Including rigorous clinical trials by the Food and Drug Administration.

"Asking the government that the Sinovac vaccine that arrives in Indonesia is subject to rigorous testing from BPOM and must obtain halal certification," said Harjono as quoted by Antara, Saturday, December 19.

According to him, the safety and halalness of the vaccine is important because Sinovac will be used massively and the percentage reduction in disease incidence in the vaccinated group is unknown.

He also reminded BPOM to be transparent about the research process and to be careful about researching the vaccine before issuing a distribution permit because the vaccine to be used concerns the safety of the community.

"BPOM must be careful and transparent in the research process because people's safety is far more important than anything. There must be scientific standards used by BPOM so that it can be accounted for," he said.

The Secretary General of PP Perisai asked the whole community to support and oversee the clinical trials of vaccines carefully and transparently so that the standardization process of examinations was carried out properly until finally the emergency / EUA use permit was granted.

Harjono also emphasized that BPOM should not ignore the scientific standardization of clinical trials for vaccine examinations just to "catch up".

"We believe there is a time target and government achievement. However, we expect BPOM's commitment not to ignore the scientific standardization of vaccine clinical trials just because it is for catching up, because this all involves guaranteeing the efficacy, quality and safety for the community," he said.
