JAKARTA - The Tanjung Emas Middle Type Customs and Excise Service Office has thwarted the shipment of hundreds of thousands of illegal razors from China that allegedly violated Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).

"403 thousand Gitlitey brand razors in 350 cartons were imported by MKA company from China through Semarang's Tanjung Emas Port", said the Head of the Tanjung Emas Middle Type Customs and Excise Service Office, Semarang Anton Martin, Antara on Thursday, December 15.

Customs inspected hundreds of thousands of razors suspected of infringing on intellectual property rights belonging to PT Protec & Gamble Home Product Indonesia.

The findings, he said, had also been submitted to PT Protec & Gamble Home Product Indonesia for further prevention.

He said that Customs and Excise had also submitted a prevention request to the Semarang Commercial Court which was followed up with a physical examination.

According to him, the prevention of the import of commodities suspected of violating IPR is inseparable from the recommendations made by brand holders through the CIESA IPR system.

"With this system, customs can immediately notify brand holders if there is an alleged import or export violation", he said.

Therefore, he encourages IPR holders to actively participate in making recommendations through the CIESA IPR system.

Prevention of the entry of commodities suspected of violating IPR, he continued, not only protects business actors but also consumers.
