No Need For Demonstrations, People Who Don't Agree With The Criminal Code Law Please Sue To The Constitutional Court

JAKARTA - Commission III of the DPR has invited the public to file a judicial review lawsuit to the Constitutional Court (MK) if they do not agree with the contents of the Criminal Code Law.

"Those who still do not agree with the articles contained in the RKUHP, please submit (the lawsuit) to the Constitutional Court (MK) through a judicial review," said Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives Bambang Wuryanto at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 6.

Bambang Wuryanto, who is familiarly called Bambang Pacul, said that the RKUHP that had been approved by the DPR to be ratified into law was not the perfect legal product. However, he said, the process of changing the Criminal Code has been running since 1963 and has only been successful in 2022 after discussions between the government and the DPR RI.

"So if someone feels disturbed, we invite our friends to take legal action and don't need to demonstrate," said Bambang Pacul.

Pacul ensured that the process of discussing and drafting the Criminal Code had been carried out by absorbing various aspirations and opinions of the community. Starting from academics, legal practitioners, community organizations, religious organizations, to journalists.

Therefore, the Secretary of the PDIP faction of the DPR invited the public to criticize and observe the RKUHP that had been approved by the DPR as the law. So according to him, if you do not agree with the contents of the Criminal Code, you can file a lawsuit to the Constitutional Court.

"Seeing a nation, we can see from the book the criminal law law. From the Criminal Code, it can be seen that a nation is a nation," said Bambang Pacul.
