The Ombudsman Representative of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province received complaints from residents regarding the scarcity of kerosene experienced in the past week or so. "Residents have complained since last week until Friday today that they have difficulty getting kerosene," said Head of the NTT Ombudsman Representative Darius Beda Daton in a statement received in Kupang, Antara, Friday, November 25. Residents have difficulty getting kerosene because stock is not available in almost all agents or kerosene bases. Different Daton said it had followed up on residents' complaints by communicating with Pertamina to ask about the stock. Pertamina said that they only act as operators to distribute, while the regulator is the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas), Ministry of Mineral Resources Energy (ESDM). Beda Daton said from the results of coordination it was known that BPH Migas reduced the NTT kerosene quota in 2022 by 3.48 percent compared to the 2021 quota. He added that from known information, because conditions on the ground were starting to not conducive, the Governor of NTT had also contacted the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and BPH Migas ready to add back the kerosene quota for NTT. "We hope that this week, the condition of scarcity of kerosene in NTT will begin to be resolved so that the needs of residents can be met and there will be no further turmoil in the community," he said.
