Vice President (Vice President) Ma'ruf Amin contacted the Governor of West Java (Jabar) Ridwan Kamil regarding the handling of earthquake-affected victims in Cianjur Regency, West Java.

An earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 5.6 rocked Cianjur Regency on Monday, November 22 afternoon. Lindu with a depth of 10 kilometers at a point 10 kilometers southwest of Cianjur Regency caused many casualties.

"Permission to report sir, in the last 24 hours we have focused on evacuating victims, as of last night there were 162 fatalities, sir," said Ridwan Kamil who was at the end of the phone, behind Ridwan there was Cianjur Regent Herman Suherman.

According to him, the 13,000 refugees will still increase because access to isolated areas is not yet open.

"So, this morning we maximized heavy equipment to normalize the road first, while we ordered the village head, babinsa (village supervisors), bhabinkamtibmas (community police officers in the village) to take action first. After the road is normal, there are 14 refugee camps and public kitchens will also adjust," explained Ridwan.

Ridwan Kamil said there were at least 117 aftershocks with a scale of 1-4 richter after the initial earthquake.

"Residents are still wary, so the majority of the treatment is not indoors, the treatment is seen outside. When viewed on TV, many (victims) are in a hurry not because the hospital is full, sir, but because doctors and patients are still worried that they are still being treated inside," said Ridwan.

Although the majority of doctors and patients choose to be treated outdoors, Ridwan Kamil said the patients received services.

"So, each patient has been handled properly, one patient already has 1 emergency bed, a folding mattress, only relatively good treatment. We are focusing on remote areas that have not been fully evacuated," added Ridwan Kamil.

According to Ridwan Kamil, assistance from the central government has also arrived, including the direct visit of the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy.

"Soon the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture is also present. I heard the news that the President may be present tomorrow. However, in the field all state officials have evacuated, so the presence of the apparatus and the state is very maximal," said Ridwan.

Meanwhile, the victim handling post was centered in the Cianjur Regent's pavilion because it was wide so that evacuation centers and emergency hospitals could be built.

"Incidentally, not all Cianjur areas were affected by one sub-district, namely Cugenang, then the electricity just turned on 20 percent. I have asked PLN to be accelerated because at night it is difficult to provide help if there is no electricity," said Ridwan Kamil.

A total of 14 refugee posts have been established to facilitate 13,784 refugees affected by the earthquake. So far, 2,345 housing units have been destroyed with damage scales ranging from 60 to 100 percent.
