PEKANBARU - A Pekanbaru firefighter (damkar), Riau named Rian Mortir (27) died while trying to extinguish a fire in a network warehouse on Jalan Lily, Sukajadi District, Monday, November 21 this afternoon. Sukajadi Police Chief Kombes Daud explained that the victim died because he fell from the top of the building when he was about to check the source of the fire. When he was rushed to the hospital, the victim's life could not be saved because he was seriously injured in the neck. "The victim was the first firefighter to come to the scene. The victim immediately went up to put out the fire, but fell down and hit his neck with zinc," he said in Pekanbaru, Antara, Monday, November 21 night. The victim died at Ibnu Sina Hospital. Not only Rian, another firefighter named Alek also suffered severe burns to the body of up to 70 percent. "So there were two victims. One officer died and the other suffered burns. The burnt person had been rushed to Santa Maria Hospital," he said. Until now, police officers are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire in the tiner warehouse and spiritus. In addition to the victim's death and injury, one car caught fire in the incident. The officers were able to tame the fire in about an hour.
