President Jokowi: Muslims In Indonesia Are Easier To Syiar Than In The Middle East

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said Muslims in the country have more convenience than in Southeast Asian countries, which are predominantly Muslim. Islamic symbols in Indonesia are more open.

This was conveyed by Jokowi when he gave a speech at the Muhammadiyah Congress in Solo, Central Java. Jokowi said, the convenience felt now also exceeds the people in the Middle East country.

"The Islamic sharia room in Indonesia is very wide open compared to Muslim countries in Southeast Asia and the Middle East," said Jokowi as shown on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Saturday, November 19.

This convenience can be seen from the unregulatedness of a number of things by the state. One of them is free to give lectures to anyone.

"Many Muslims in Indonesia are not regulated by the state, such as the ease of delivering religious lectures, the ease of inviting lecturers," he said.

In addition, Jokowi also mentioned that there is no prohibition for anyone who wants to deliver a sermon during Friday prayers. Then, there are other conveniences that he also conveyed in front of the guests who attended.

"Hopefully delivering Friday's sermon, the convenience of holding Islamic holidays, the ease of managing the call to prayer, the ease of collecting Islamic social funds," he said.

The congress was held at the Solo Manahan Stadium. Jokowi was present with the First Lady, Iriana.

In his presence, President Jokowi was seen wearing brown batik. A number of invited guests were also present, including Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo and Indonesian House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani.
