JAKARTA - A blind man with the initials JS alias gagu (46) was arrested by the Tambora Police Criminal Investigation Unit for theft at a fireworks shop in Pagi Market, Roa Malaka, Tambora, West Jakarta. The man, a resident of Babakan Empang Hamlet, Karawang, was arrested and could not escape because the officer had CCTV footage installed by the shop owner, Ayung.

Tambora Police Chief Kompol Putra Pratama explained that the perpetrator entered the shop by breaking into the trellis door on the 4th floor of the shop. Then go down to the 1st floor and dismantle the table drawer. The perpetrator took some items and money

"The perpetrator's action was caught on CCTV cameras installed by the shop owner," said Kompol Putra when confirmed, Tuesday, November 15.

Based on the CCTV footage, the buser team managed to identify the perpetrator and search for the perpetrator.

"The perpetrator is JS alias gagu (36). He was also arrested by the Tambora Police for committing theft but there was no evidence," he said.

The perpetrator was successfully secured in the Gambir Station area, Central Jakarta. The perpetrator did not stay and often moved from station to station.

"From the results of the examination we obtained, the perpetrators had committed theft in 10 shops. The victims' losses varied from hundreds of thousands to tens of millions of rupiah," he said.

As a result of his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of 7 years in prison.
