JEMBER - A number of members of the Jember Regency DPRD, East Java, took action to shave their hair until they were bald as an expression of gratitude after the incumbent regent candidate Faida who was paired with the vice regent candidate Vian lost in the Jember 2020 Pilkada.

The defeat of the incumbent Faida is still based on the results of a quick count (quick count) by the survey institute of the Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI) Denny JA.

This spontaneous action was followed by a number of Jember DPRD members, supporters of the candidate pair Hendy-Gus Firjaun and activists from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the lobby of the local DPRD.

"The bald shaving action is an expression of our gratitude that the cabup-cawabups we support are superior in the regional elections and are a form of expression to maintain friendship between all parties," said Chairman of Commission C of the Jember DPRD David Handoko Seto quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 10.

According to him, now there are no more candidate pairs 1, 2, and 3 because all of them have become the people of Jember, so becoming one unit for Jember is better.

"Of course there are no more differences and everyone is united for Jember in an effort to catch up, so that those who used to have different views during the regional elections, are now together again," said David.

The same thing was also conveyed by member of Commission B DPRD Jember Nyoman Aribowo who took part in the bald shaving, even though he did not support candidate pair number 2 Hendy-Gus Firjaun in the regional elections.

"It is time to reunite and the differences in choices among members of the Jember DPRD have been resolved, so they must work together to improve this district so that it can be better," he said.

Nyoman hopes that the bad communication between the executive and the legislature at the leadership of the Regent of Jember Faida will not happen again to the new candidate for district head who will be elected later, so that the synergy between the DPRD and the Jember Regency Government can run optimally.

The results of the quick count of the Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI) Denny JA stated that the candidate pair for regent and deputy regent (cabup-cawabup) candidate number 2 Hendy Siswanto-M Balya Firjaun Barlaman was superior with 47.95 percent of the vote.

While the cabup-cawabup pair number 1 Faida-Dwi Arya Nugraha Oktavianto got 30.41 percent of the votes, and the cabup-cawabup pair number 2 Abdussalam-Ifan Ariadna got 21.64 percent.

The Jember Pilkada was followed by three pairs of candidates, namely the pair Faida-Dwi Arya Nugraha Oktavianto (Faida-Vian) number 1, the pair Hendy Siswanto-M Balya Firjaun Barlaman (Hendy-Firjaun) number 2, and Abdus Salam-Ifan Ariadna Wijaya (Salam- Ifan) sequence number 3.
