JAKARTA - Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto invites the nation's elite to unite to face various tough challenges in 2023. He believes that Indonesia will be able to hit challenges if they collaborate with each other.

"The world faces tough challenges, but as long as we are united, especially the elite, especially its leaders, we reduce all of our egos, unite for the nation and people, God willing, we will be strong and successful," Prabowo said in his statement, Friday, November 11.

Prabowo is optimistic that Indonesia will be able to face various economic challenges and climate crises that are predicted to emerge in 2023 if all components of the nation are unified and united.

"Many tribes, many religions, different cultures, but we really have to be one, we have to work together, we have to work together. If we can do this, we will be a successful country in this world," said the chairman of the Gerindra Party.

He explained that the world is predicted to face tougher challenges in 2023. According to the projection of Bank Indonesia (BI), there will be five challenges that Indonesia will face next year.

First, he continued, global economic growth slowed and was lower than this year. Second, the global inflation rate rose due to supply chains and exacerbated Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Furthermore, third, the increase in interest rates in developed countries is increasingly aggressive. Fourth, strengthening the United States (US) dollar triggered the weakening of the world's currencies, including the rupiah. "Finally, the risk of an investor's perception tends to attract funds and accumulate cash," he explained.

In addition to economic challenges, Prabowo said, the world will also face other global crises. "For example, climate change and food scarcity," he said.
