In the process of technology transfer Kimia Farma cooperates with partners from South Korea. The reason is, this country of ginseng has become a big player in the cosmetic industry.

"This is our (Kimia Farma) step to increase the country's export value. Through the initial export of seven cosmetic raw materials to South Korea, it will generate a value of around US $ 1.5 million," said Verdi Budidarmo, President Director of Kimia Farma in a statement received. VOI, Wednesday January 29.

According to him, the development of the raw material industry began in 2016 through the establishment of a BBO production facility owned by Kimia Farma and then the first commercialization today.

In fact, this production facility has become one of the innovators in the pharmaceutical raw material industry and has been awarded the "National Work for the Pharmaceutical Industry Category" submitted by the Minister of Health in 2018.

Marketing of raw cosmetic raw materials to South Korea is a good start to open up market opportunities for cosmetic raw materials in foreign countries. South Korea is becoming a cosmetic trendsetter in the world.

"This is an entry gate for us (Kimia Farma) to reach the raw material market in the future, because now Kimia Farma is also developing Medicinal Raw Materials (BBO)," said Verdi.

Meanwhile, Kimia Farma's BBO production is in the process of being developed into finished products (finished good). Kimia Farma BBO is expected to commercialize in Semester 2 of 2020.

In the early stages, the use of BBO will be focused on meeting domestic needs first. This aims to reduce the value of domestic BBO imports.
