KPK: Many Families Are Used By Corruptors To Wash Money

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said only 6 percent of married couples teach honesty to their children.

KPK's Director of Community Participation Development Kumbul Kusdwidjanto Sudjadi said the amount was asked to be a concern because building an anti-corruption culture must come from the smallest environment, namely the family.

"Today, many corruption perpetrators use other family members in money laundering as a result of their crimes," he said in a written statement, Friday, November 4.

Kumbul reminded the family that they should be able to become anti-corruption bulwarks instead of playing a role. This smallest environment is required to be able to maintain the morale of officials.

Moreover, from the data there are 1,444 people who have been named suspects by the KPK until July 2022. "If examined, from the total amount, it is found that many families are involved, ranging from husbands, wives, to children," said Kumbul.

Not only that, the KPK revealed the role of the extended family to prevent corruption. Like many wives who do not ask their husbands' income if the amount is not reasonable, it is better to start acting otherwise.

"The wife did not ask where the source of the gift from the husband came from," he concluded.
