Compact With Wury Ma'ruf Amin To Visit Jambi Women's Prison, Iriana Jokowi: I Hope When Out I Can Mandiri

JAKARTA - Mrs. Iriana Joko Widodo and Mrs. Wury Ma'ruf Amin together with members of the Solidarity Action Organization for the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet Era (OASE KIM) visited the Class II B Women's Correctional Institution Jambi in Muaro Jambi Regency, Thursday, October 20. At the Women's Prison, Mrs. Iriana and Mrs. Wury appeared to be in touch with prison inmates and saw a number of handicraft products made by the inmates. When giving information after the visit, Mrs. Iriana expressed her hope that the inmates could work independently by producing other products after leaving prison. "Yes, we visited the inmates here and it looks like they are all cheerful, ladies and gentlemen, but we don't know what their hearts are because they are in prison and for sure, I hope to get out of here (they) can be independent,” said the First Lady, quoted from Antara, Thursday, October 20. Meanwhile, Mrs. Wury Ma’ruf Amin admitted that she was touched when she met with the inmates of the Jambi Class II B Women's Prison. She hopes that the inmates can provide greater benefits to the community after leaving prison. "Hopefully they are strong, healthy, and continue to be patient in facing trials, and get out of here can be more beneficial for the community," said Mrs. Wury. On a separate occasion, the Head of Jambi Class II B Women's Prison, Triana Agustin, explained that the products produced by the inmates were quite diverse, such as bags, flowers, and batik. Meanwhile, for marketing, Triana said the products made by assisted residents were marketed through social media and direct orders in prisons. "As for the sales issue, we have marketing a lot, both in Instagram promotion and also we can get orders directly to prisons. So, for batik, we have sold a lot of our batik," said Triana. Regarding the presence of Mrs. Iriana and Mrs. Wury with OASE KIM members at the Jambi Women's Prison, Triana admitted that she was very happy because on that occasion she could show the creativity of prison inmates whose work was no less attractive than products outside the prison. Triana also hopes that from the visit, Mrs. Iriana and Mrs. Wury can see the efforts made by the correctional institution in returning the inmates to the community. "They are also given certified training. With that, the First Lady can see how hard the work of the correctional community is to return these inmates to the community with provisions that can later be useful," he said.
