Not All Pilkada Officials Get PPE, Bawaslu: Danger

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), Abhan, said that the distribution of personal protective equipment to the General Election Commission (General) Commission officers has not reached all electoral areas.

This is unfortunate for Bawaslu. This is because the implementation of the 2020 Simultaneous Continuous Election voting day left five days, namely on December 9, 2020.

If until the voting day there is still a polling committee (KPPS) that has not received PPE logistics that cannot be provided alone, such as a temperature measuring device (thermo gun), the potential for COVID-19 transmission will be large.

"The PPE that must be the KPU's obligation is that the results of our supervision are not all distributed. Especially about the thermo gun. It would be very dangerous if there is no thermo gun in the polling area at the TPS," Abhan said at the Bawaslu building, Friday, December 4.

According to Abhan, the use of a thermo gun is very important to separate healthy voters from voters with symptoms of COVID-19 such as fever in order to reduce the spread of the corona virus.

Voters who have a body temperature above 37.3 degrees Celsius will be placed in special voting booths outside the polling stations (TPS). This booth is separate from the place for voting for regional head candidates in the TPS.

I think the thermo gun is the entrance to detect voters. Of course, not all of these voters were ever rapid, for example. So, the initial detection is in the thermo gun, "said Abhan.

With five days remaining before voting, Abhan reminded the KPU to ensure the logistical distribution process, starting from voting, counting, to distributed personal protective equipment before election day.

"So, we still hope and still have a sense of optimism that in the next five days, the KPU will complete the logic, which perhaps there are still shortcomings," he concluded.
