JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri was asked to report to the KPK Supervisory Board ahead of his departure to Jayapura to check on the health condition of Papua Governor Lukas Enembe. Reports need to be done in order to prevent the spotlight from any party.

"If the chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission wants to attend, it's best if you go to the KPK Council for permission first," Boyamin Saiman, coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI), told reporters on Tuesday, October 18.

Boyamin said that Firli and Luke's meeting could be highlighted negatively. Moreover, the KPK is currently investigating allegations of corruption that ensnared the regional head.

Thus, it is important for Firli to report to Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean et al. Moreover, the presence of the former Deputy for KPK Enforcement did not necessarily make Lukas immediately want to attend to carry out the examination.

"We are waiting for the continuation and we are waiting for the action of the KPK chairman," said Boyamin.

As previously reported, the news that Firli will join the team from the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) to Jayapura to examine Luke was conveyed by Roy Rening. He claims to have received information from the Director of Enforcement of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, that the chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission will go to see his client's condition firsthand.

"The chairman of the KPK will be present in person along with a team of independent doctors who will go to Jayapura," Roy told reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, October 17.

It is not yet known when the team will depart. However, Roy appreciates the steps that will be taken by Firli. "I think this is a positive thing so that we can see the governor's health condition on the spot," continued Roy.

The KPK has named Lukas Enembe as a suspect. However, the case against him has not been detailed.

Lukas Enembe will actually be questioned on Monday, September 26 at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta. However, the examination was not carried out because Lukas claimed to be sick and could not provide information.

Furthermore, the KPK will again make calls that have not been informed for sure. Lukas was asked to cooperate in fulfilling the summons of the KPK investigators because his statement was needed to make clear the allegations of corruption that occurred.
