This Morning, Floods Still Submerged 50 Neighborhood Units In Jakarta Up To 2.2 Meters

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted that as many as 50 neighborhood units (RT) in Jakarta were flooded due to heavy rains and the overflow of the Ciliwung River.

The number of RTs that were flooded as of Wednesday, October 12 at 06.00 WIB increased from the early hours of this morning.

"BPBD noted that the inundation previously occurred in 38 RTs, is currently 50 RTs or 0.164 percent of the 30,470 RTs in the DKI Jakarta area," said Head of BPBD DKI Jakarta Isnawa Adji in a statement, Wednesday, October 12.

Floods that hit this morning were spread in South Jakarta with 17 RTs and East Jakarta with 22 RTs. The worst water level in Cawang Village, East Jakarta, is up to 2.2 meters.

In South Jakarta, floods hit 6 RTs in East Pejaten Village with water levels reaching 1.9 meters, 7 RTs in Rawajati Village with water levels reaching 80 centimeters.

Then, 2 RTs in Tanjung Barat Village with water levels reaching 70 centimeters, and 2 RTs in Kebon Baru Village with water levels reaching 70 centimeters.

In East Jakarta, floods inundated 17 RTs in Cawang Village with water levels reaching 2.2 meters, 2 RTs in Balekambang Village with water levels reaching 2 meters, 8 RTs in Bidara Cina Village with water levels reaching 1.8 meters, and 6 RTs in Kampung Melayu Village with water levels reaching 1.5 meters.

"The inundation is targeted to recede in a short time," he added.

Rain in Jakarta and its surroundings has also caused an increase in the alert status of the Katulampa Siaga 3 Dam or Alert status, Depok Alert 2 or Alert Post, and Alert 3 or Alert Pesanggrahan Post.
