Ridwan Kamil Imbau Tourists Don't Visit Bandung Raya

BANDUNG - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil (Kang Emil) appealed to the public or tourists not to travel far and not to visit areas with red zone status or high risk of COVID-19, one of which is Bandung Raya.

"I announced yesterday, the first time the city of Bandung has become a red zone, so I appeal to tourists this week to refrain from going to Bandung Raya because the zone is red and the control process is getting better," said Kang Emil, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, 2 December.

Data for the period 23 to 29 November 2020, six areas in West Java have the status of the red zone, namely Indramayu, Purwakarta, Karawang, West Bandung, Bandung City, and Banjar City Regencies.

Then, 19 areas in West Java have orange zone status. Only Cianjur and Pangandaran Regencies have yellow zone status.

Kang Emil said that after the long holiday at the end of October 2020, there had been an increase in COVID-19 cases. Therefore, he appealed to the people of West Java to hold back and avoid crowds.

"The story from the long holiday shows that there is an increase in (COVID-19 cases). Therefore, to guard against unwanted things, I think we should hold back first, don't travel too far, then don't crowd, ”he said.

Kang Emil reported that the occupancy rate of the referral hospital isolation rooms in the Bodebek (Bogor-Depok-Bekasi) and Bandung Raya areas (Bandung City, Cimahi, Bandung Regency, West Bandung, and Sumedang) was more than the standard threshold of the World Health Organization (WHO) ), which is 60 percent.

"The occupancy in Depok is on average at 80 percent. This also represents the average in West Java, especially Bodebek and Bandung Raya. However, other than that (Bodebek and Bandung Raya) it is still relatively under 60 percent. "In Bodebek and Bandung Raya there has been an increase," he said.

In addition, according to Kang Emil, no area in the Bodebek area has a red zone status for the first time.

"Bodebek, this week, the first time there are no red zones. Usually alternating, Depok not (red zone), then Bekasi, but now everything is not, "he said.

Kang Emil also reported that based on data as of November 29, 2020, the cure rate for COVID-19 patients in West Java reached 85.65 percent. This figure exceeds the average national recovery rate, which is 83.40 percent. Then, the death rate for COVID-19 patients continues to decline.

"The cure rate in West Java is above the national level, which is 85 percent. It's one of the highest. Then our mortality rate is consistently the lowest, thousands of other provinces, but we are only 900 out of 51 thousand total cases, or about 1.7 percent, "he said.
