Circulating Post 'President Fires Minister Of Politics, Law And Security Mahfud MD', Check The Facts

JAKARTA - An upload circulating on social media claims that President Joko Widodo fired the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD. The name of the Puri A Wahid Facebook account shares it by including a Youtube link.

In this upload, Puri includes a certain narrative:

Based on the search for turnbackhoax.id, at the beginning of the video there is a snippet of President Jokowi's speech saying that he does not hesitate to dismiss ministers. However, in the video, there is no statement that President Jokowi will or has dismissed Mahfud MD from his current position as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

It is known that the video footage is a video of Joko Widodo's speech, after being inaugurated as president in 2019. The statement regarding the dismissal of the minister is Jokowi's promise if the ministers in his cabinet are not serious about working. So it's not a statement about Mahfud MD's dismissal or removal.
