Drug Traffickers Discard Ecstasy When Arrested

JAKARTA - Two narcotics traffickers, R and J, were arrested in a hiding place in one of the Pluit apartment units, Penjaringan, North Jakarta. However, when they were about to be arrested, they tried to trick the officers by throwing away tens of thousands of ecstasy pills.

This story began when the Drugs Detective Directorate received information about narcotics transactions in the apartment area. After gathering information, Thursday, January 16, the police made the arrests of the two. This arrest was carried out in an apartment unit in Pluit, Penjaringan, North Jakarta.

"On January 15, we received information about drug trafficking there. Then we followed up and a day later, we managed to arrest two suspects," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus in Jakarta, Monday, January 27.

When he was about to be arrested, the suspect with the initials R threw tens of thousands of ecstasy pills from the window of the apartment unit. However, the police found some evidence, in the form of 1 kilogram of raw material for ecstasy and 5 grams of crystal methamphetamine in the apartment.

Next, the clerk went to the ground floor of the apartment to look for discarded evidence. From this search, the police obtained tens of thousands of ecstasy as evidence.

"Suspect R threw away from the apartment on the 20th floor and down, the total of which was a total of 14,356 we counted," said Yusri.

Meanwhile, Head of Sub-Directorate 3 of the Directorate of Narcotics Research at Polda Metro Jaya, Kompol Awaludin Amin added that the police were still developing the origins of the two suspects' ecstasy, including its products.

"We are still investigating everything for the raw material, whether they print it themselves or if there are other syndicates we are still investigating," said Awaludin.

"They have plans to spread it in Jakarta and its surroundings, especially in entertainment venues," said Awaludin.

Thus, for all their actions, the two suspects were charged under Article 114 junto Article 112 and Article 132 of the Criminal Code, as well as law number 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics, with a maximum threat of 20 years in prison.
