Sri Mulyani: Want To Get Maximum Cuan, Herbal Medicine Entrepreneurs Must Be Digital Literate

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati asked herbal medicine business players in Indonesia to take advantage of digital platforms in marketing their products. Moreover, the use of digital services during the COVID-19 pandemic has increased significantly. This is because pandemics limit human mobility.

"Now digital platforms are very helpful for entrepreneurs to market, especially during a pandemic, people do not have physical interactions. We hope that many herbal and herbal entrepreneurs can market (digitally) digitally," he said, in the GP Jamu webinar, Monday, November 30.

The government, said Sri Mulyani, is currently aggressively building digital technology infrastructure that is part of the transformation of the national economy. Moreover, in Indonesia there are still 12 thousand villages that do not have internet access, so they cannot connect digitally.

Furthermore, Sri Mulyani explained, the government's efforts to accelerate the development of digital infrastructure were also to develop the capabilities of MSMEs in marketing their products. According to him, before the COVID-19 pandemic, many spa and aromatherapy products were marketed digitally.

"I hope this can continue after COVID," he said.

Currently, a trend for a healthy lifestyle is developing in society. According to Sri Mulyani, this can be used by herbal medicine and traditional medicine business players in Indonesia to take the opportunity to expand their market share.

In addition, the government also provides various supports so that the herbal medicine industry which is dominated by MSMEs can increase its productivity. Not only convenience on the financing side, but also licensing issues through the Omnibus Law on Job Creation.

"I hope the various government supports will really alleviate and improve the competitiveness and productivity of the quality of the traditional herbal medicine industry and various herbal products," he explained.
