JAKARTA - Behind the splendor of the Transjakarta Bus Stop in the HI Roundabout which is being revitalized, it turns out that it is holding a problem. The historian of Jakarta, JJ Rizal, revealed that the bus stop on Jalan MH Thamrin damaged the view towards the Welcome Statue.

"Mr Governor Anies Baswedan, please stop the construction of the Transjakarta Tosari-Bundaran HI bus stop which destroys views on the welcome statue and Henk Tidak Fontein, President Soekarno's legacy, with Governor Henk Ntik as the axis to mark the change of the colonial capital to the national capital," he said via his Twitter account @JJRizal, Thursday, September 29.

He said, the Welcome Statue is an important object because it is not only the work of President Soekarno and maestro Edi Sunarso, and Henk Ntang, but also a symbol of the nation, a friendly spirit of carrying out world order based on independence, eternal peace, and social justice.

Supposedly, as a government-owned enterprise, continued JJ Rizal, PT Transjakarta must maintain its historical heritage as a source of city inspiration.

"Hopefully PT Transjakarta finds an architectural model that is more appropriate and strengthens the historical vista of valuable, rich in value, and needs to be celebrated as a blessing from the nation's founders," said JJ Rizal.

Meanwhile, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Restoration Session Team (TSP) Boy Bhirawa revealed that the revitalization of the HI Roundabout Transjakarta Bus Stop violated the procedures for preserving cultural heritage.

This is because the construction of the HI Roundabout Bus Stop, which is now more magnificent, turned out to be part of the object area suspected of being a cultural heritage (ODCB).

Adapun kawasan Bundaran HI yang ditetapkan sebagai ODCB adalah Patung Selamat, airguman, dan jalan di sekitarnya. Meski masih berstatus diduga cagar budaya, kawasan Bundaran HI tetap harus diperlakukan cagar budaya.

"The restoration area of the cultural heritage belongs to the public, it belongs to the real citizens of the city. An important area that has indications of historicality or meaning in the city must remain in its position. So, it should not be covered up or damaged," said Boy.

Boy views that PT Transjakarta should have asked for recommendations from the TSP and the Cultural Heritage Expert Team (TACB) before constructing the revitalization of the bus stop near the cultural heritage area. This recommendation is produced from expert studies.

"So all objects suspected of cultural heritage should have gone through the restoration team of the Restoration Session Team," said Boy.

Not to mention, there will be elements of commercialization that will be carried out, namely tenants, when the iconic bus stop operates. Commercialization around the cultural heritage area clearly violates ethics.

"In this bus stop case, no building has been damaged. The visual condition (Welcome) that is hindered is not implicitly stated, but this should be scientifically understood," explained Boy.
