Responding To Jokowi's Discourse To Become Prabowo's Vice Presidential Candidate, Gerindra: Everyone Has The Right To Vote And Be Elected

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani, said that his party was still looking for the truth about the Prabowo Subianto-Jokowi duo in the 2024 presidential election.

According to him, the appearance of Jokowi's name as Prabowo's companion is an honor because the 7th president of Indonesia is the nation's best son.

"About the names, there is Jokowi, for us, it is an honor. Because they are the best people in the nation whose reputation and track record are quite clear", said Muzani at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 28.

Regarding Jokowi being paired with Prabowo as a representative, Muzani assessed that every citizen has the same position and rights before the law. As long as it doesn't violate applicable laws and regulations.

"The right to vote and the right to be elected applies to people who do not violate the rules and laws. Something like that. So I think that's where the footing comes from", explained Muzani.

Even so, Muzani emphasized that Gerindra had not yet decided on the proposal. His party, he said, was still communicating to the central management.

“I need time to update. Frankly, I have not received a report", he said.

For information, this discourse was first launched by several cadres from the Gerindra Party and the PDI-P. In fact, the article that will block the discourse is also being submitted to the Constitutional Court.

This discourse was confirmed by the initiator of the Prabowo-Jokowi Joint Secretariat movement, Ghea Giasty Italiane. Ghea admitted that she had been in a guerrilla meeting with several people close to Prabowo Subianto.

Ghea also conveyed her proposal to pair Defense Minister Prabowo with President Joko Widodo in the 2024 election. Prabowo is the presidential candidate and Jokowi is his deputy.

According to Ghea, people close to Prabowo who is also a high-ranking member of the Gerindra Party responded positively to the proposal. This proposal is said to have been discussed at the Gerindra Party National Leadership Meeting on Friday, August 8.

"From Mr. Prabowo's side, as long as it's good and that's what the community wants, he's okay", said Ghea.

However, when asked which people close to Prabowo were spoken to, Ghea refused to name names. She only made sure these people were Prabowo's representatives.

"I can't say the name yet. What is certain is his representative", said Ghea.
