Scholarships Don't Be Just For Money Or Education Funds, But Must Establish Recipients As Change Agents

JAKARTA - Director of the Indonesian International Education Foundation (IIEF) Diana Kartika Jahja said the scholarship program should be able to form students or recipients into agents of change.

Giving scholarships should not just give money or educational funds, but how to form these students into agents of change. Future leaders," Diana said at the closing of the Cakrawala Scholarship program, quoted by Antara, Sunday, September 25.

Currently, according to him, the younger generation is faced with a 'war' against luxury, glorification, and instant life offered on social media.

Therefore, he said, the scholarship program provided with various components was not only educational assistance but also training non-technical skills such as leadership, concern for others and guidance.

So they can become Indonesian people who are intact. Not only has technical capabilities, but also non-technical abilities," he said.

The scholarship program should also be able to change a person's life for the better than before. Previously, IIEF launched the Cakrawala Scholarship program given to children from flight sector families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

During one year of the program, not only education fund assistance, but also guidance and involvement sessions in community services. The program was attended by 78 scholarship recipients. Scholarship recipients get a one year study allowance of Rp12 million for high school students and Rp 19.2 million for students,

Educational figure Prof. Dr. Arief Rachman said a successful education is an education that can lead students to become vigilant, have a mature, knowledgeable personality, have a sense of nationality, and have a global perspective.

"Students are a form of tool to shape the character of the recipient, through a friendshipal scholarship (networking) and honed mind intelligence," said Arief.
