To Prevent Election Violations, West Sulawesi Bawaslu Asks Political Parties To Actively Communicate

WEST SULAWESI - The Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of West Sulawesi Province (Sulbar) asked the administrators of political parties (parpols) in the local area to understand the rules for the 2024 Simultaneous General Election (Pemilu) to prevent violations.

"Bawaslu encourages political parties to understand the rules or any election regulations, to prevent election violations and so that violations do not accumulate and become reports," said Sulfan Sulo, chairman of the Bawaslu of West Sulawesi, in Mamuju, West Sulawesi, quoted from Antara, Monday, September 19.

He explained that the West Sulawesi Bawaslu continued to communicate and coordinate with political party administrators to improve understanding regarding elections.

"If communication has gone well, with the aim that political parties understand election rules, violations will be minimized. So, political parties are asked to communicate with election supervisory institutions in West Sulawesi," he said.

He hopes that political parties will also be involved in preventing violations of the 2024 Simultaneous Election stages that are already running. Thus, he continued, the high Election Vulnerability Index (IKP) in West Sulawesi can be suppressed.

"In the 2019 Election, the IKP of West Sulawesi was very high. However, thanks to the participation of all parties, the election was successful, so the role and participation of all parties in preventing violations of the 2024 election is highly expected," he said.

He also hopes that in the 2024 Simultaneous Elections, political parties will no longer commit violations because they do not understand election rules.

In the verification stage of political parties, the West Sulawesi Bawaslu received 24 complaints from the public because their names were used as members of political parties.
