JAKARTA - Police in Tokyo explained that they had arrested an unemployed man 59 years old. The man is suspected of killing his 92-year-old mother at their home last month.

According to police, Hidekuni Maehara strangled her mother who was lying in Fusako's bed with a thin rope at around 7 pm on August 28 at their home in Katsushika County, Kyodo News reported.

He then tried to commit suicide by taking an overdose of sleeping pills.

A doctor visited the house at around 10:10 the next day and saw a note posted on the door, which reads "Please call the police. I'm sorry."

The doctor called the police who found the woman, Fusako Maehara, lying in her bed on a room on the first floor.

Maehara's son was found unconscious in another room. He was taken to the hospital where he has been treated since this week. Police said they were waiting until he recovered before taking him, quoted from Japan Today, Friday 9 September.

Police said he had confessed to killing his mother, who had been lying in bed since she suffered from cerebral infarction eight years ago, citing her saying she was tired of taking care of her because she was her main caregiver.
