Bambang Widjojanto Singgung Politization When Anies Was Examined By The KPK, PDIP: It's Only Natural For Him To Be A Employer

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDIP faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Gembong Warsono responded to Bambang Widjojanto or BW's statement that led to the issue of politicization in the summoning of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan by the KPK regarding the investigation into the Jakarta Formula E case.

Gembong considered it natural that BW, who is a former member of the DKI Governor's Team for the Acceleration of Development (TGUPP), behaved like that. Because BW is considered close to the former Minister of Education and Culture until now.

"For us (BW accusations) are normal. He is playing the politicization of the Formula E issue. It's natural that he defends his employer, yes. It's normal. Right, he's a former TGUPP," said Gembong when contacted, Friday, September 9.

Gembong also highlighted BW's performance during his tenure as Chairman of the DKI TGUPP Corruption Prevention Committee Team until he finally resigned. According to Gembong, the presence of BW did not have any impact in the work environment of the DKI Provincial Government.

Because, so far, cases of alleged corruption are still there. Several officials have been named as suspects, and some of the other cases are still in the process of being investigated and investigated.

"If we want a value, is it comparable to the allocation issued for TGUPP regarding the prevention of corruption in Jakarta, my answer is not. Why? In fact, it is clear that there are still many incidents that are currently in the legal process," said Gembong.

"This means that the presence of the KPK (DKI TGUPP Corruption Prevention Committee) City Hall driven by Mr. BW does not have a significant impact in the context of preventing corruption in Jakarta," he continued.

Previously, Bambang Widjojanto, viewed that the summons of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan by the KPK had the potential to cause a political commotion.

Anies was summoned by the KPK for questioning regarding the investigation into the alleged corruption case in the implementation of Formula E Jakarta. Anies also complied with a call to arrive at the KPK on Wednesday, September 7 morning.

Bambang said the potential for political commotion could arise because Anies' summons coincided with this year's political situation which began to heat up ahead of the 2024 presidential election. Anies himself is a strong presidential candidate who is championed by a number of parties.

"The drama and political hostages as well as the potential for political corruption are getting stronger and harder so that a lot of noise will be created which shows the fragility of the authentication law enforcement process and provides certainty and justice for the community," said Bambang in his statement, Wednesday, September 7.

But most importantly, said Bambang, the KPK can still act transparently and accountably in tracing the alleged corruption of Formula E Jakarta in the midst of a political year that is starting to heat up. Bambang is worried that the KPK is looking for loopholes for actions that are not in accordance with the results of the investigation.

"The big question after giving Anies Baswedan a statement on the prosecution from the KPK, will the KPK leadership submit to the results and conclusions of the investigation, and not look for excuses and force their will to suspect Anies?" he said.
