The Floods Widespreading, Gunung Mas BPBD, Central Kalimantan Starts Evacuating Residents

GUNUNG MAS - The Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Gunung Mas Regency, Central Kalimantan, Champili stated that flooding in a number of areas in this district has become more widespread.

"The flood disaster has not only occurred in a number of areas in the Tewah sub-district but has spread to the Kurun sub-district," said Champili in Kuala Kurun, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 5.

According to him, the flood not only submerged residents' houses, but also a number of roads. His party prepared rubber boats to evacuate residents who were victims of the flood.

There were three rubber boats, he said, which were prepared to help evacuate residents who were flood victims. Two rubber boats were prepared in Tewah District and one in Kurun District.

Champili said, specifically in Tewah sub-district, two refugee tents have been prepared to accommodate flood victims, to be exact at the Tewah Police Sector yard and the Tewah Main Church.

"Ready food and others have also been distributed to flood victims. In addition, health posts have also been prepared by the relevant regional officials to serve flood victims," ​​he said.

Based on temporary data, there are 2.176 families affected by the flood, spread across a number of villages or sub-districts in the Tewah and Kurun sub-districts.

The details are 605 family heads spread over 11 villages in Kurun District, as well as 1.571 family heads spread over seven villages in Tewah District.

According to him, this number could increase because flooding has also begun to spread in a number of other sub-districts, such as in Tumbang Danau Village, Mihing Raya District and Tanjung Karitak Village, Sepang District.

"We urge the residents of Gunung Mas to always be aware of the threat of flooding. If it is necessary, immediately evacuate to a place that is safe from flooding," said Champili.
