Singapore Airlines Allows Passengers To No Longer Wear Masks, Unfortunately Indonesia Not Included

JAKARTA - Masks are no longer required on Singapore Airlines (SIA) flights. However, it was not applied evenly. There is a list of traveling to or from destinations that are still mandatory to wear.

Unfortunately, Indonesia is still a country that requires masks on flights. Indonesia is on the list with Canada, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Malaysia.

This rule will go into effect from Monday 29 August. SIA said it was updating its policy on wearing masks during flights following the latest guidelines from the Government.

Director of medical services at the Ministry of Health (MOH) Kenneth Mak said the requirements for wearing masks on flights would depend on the rules or laws of the destination country as well as the airline.

SIA passengers who wish to wear masks on board can continue to do so, the airline said. Masks are optional at Changi Airport.

Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has also announced that people in Singapore will not be required to wear masks except on public transport and in health facilities from 29 August.

Masks must still be worn on transportation modes such as the MRT, LRT, and public buses, as well as on indoor public transportation facilities such as boarding areas at bus interchanges and MRT platforms.
