COVID-19 Update As Of August 24: New Cases Appeared 5,428, Good News Patients Recovered 5,550

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 102,217 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 5,428 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 6,329,143 people and active cases have fallen by 140 to 48,363 cases", said Ministry of Health data, Wednesday, August 24.

The number of recovered cases today increased by 5,550 people, bringing the total to 6,123,342 people recovered. Then, the positive confirmed cases who died increased by 18 cases and the total was 157,438 people.

The province with the newest cases is DKI Jakarta with 2,307 cases and a total of 1,383,298 cases. Followed by West Java which has 1,121 new cases with a total of 1,159,929 cases. Banten has 669 new cases and a total of 326,521 cases. East Java has 433 new cases and a total of 595,197 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to West Java with an additional 2,127 recovered cases. Followed by DKI Jakarta with an additional 1,900 recovered cases, East Java with an additional 356 recovered cases, and Banten with an additional 279 recovered cases.

In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens reached 106,136,104.

"Positive results per number of people examined or the positivity rate of people this week was 11.87 percent", it wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases was recorded at 6,687 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

Furthermore, currently, 203,161,073 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 170,751,095 of the second dose of vaccination. Then, the third dose of vaccination was 59,717,885 and the fourth dose was 279,574. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 234,666,020 people.
