Charged With Article 303 Of The Criminal Code, Gamblers In Karimun Kepri Threatened With 10 Years In Prison

KARIMUN - Deputy Chief of Karimun Police, Riau Islands (Kepri), Kompol Arsyad Riyandi said three guessing-number gamblers who were successfully secured by his staff could face up to 10 years in prison.

"For their actions, the three perpetrators are suspected of violating Article 303 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison," said Deputy Chief of Police Karimun, Kompol Arsyad Riyandi as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 22.

The three gamblers who were arrested were initials AS, PM, and B. At first, the police arrested AS and PM related to a guessing number gambling case in the Kolong area, Karimun District, Karimun Regency, Thursday (18/8).

Meanwhile, perpetrator B was arrested in a different area, namely in the Puakang area, Karimun District, Karimun Regency.

"Disclosure of this number guessing gambling case begins with public information," said the Deputy Chief of Police.

When he was arrested, he said, the police saw the prime minister writing the numbers in the guessing book at the crime scene. Meanwhile, US actors act as bookies for the gambling game.

Meanwhile, the perpetrator with the initial B was also arrested while he was writing numbers in the same gambling game record book.

"The three perpetrators admitted to being involved in a guessing number gambling case," he said.

From the results of this arrest, continued the deputy chief of police, officers managed to secure evidence in the form of Togel or Togel papers that had been burned, a calculator, a black pen, one unit of Samsung Galaxy A03 mobile phone which contained a photo of the recap of the Togel numbers and IDR 4,4 million of money.

Currently, the three perpetrators have been taken to the Karimun Police for further investigation.

"We appeal to our media partners, the public if they find a crime, especially gambling, to inform the Karimun Police for law enforcement," he said.

The disclosure of this gambling case is a follow-up to the instructions of the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo so that all gambling crimes, both conventional and online, are eradicated by the police in the regions.
