Police About Rizieq Shihab: If Information Needed, Yes Invited

JAKARTA - Director of General Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya Tubagus Ade Hidayat said that his party opened the opportunity to summon FPI leader Rizieq Shihab. Summons related to the process of clarifying suspected health protocol violations.

The police have asked for clarification from dozens of people, ranging from DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, the Jakarta Provincial Government, to the organizing committee for the Prophet's birthday event and the wedding of Rizieq Shihab's daughter.

Tubagus said that summoning someone to clarify was part of the investigation process to determine whether or not there was a criminal element in a case.

"Clarification is the framework of an investigation, the objective of the investigation is to determine whether or not a crime is present," said Tubagus at Polda Metro Jaya, Wednesday, November 18.

Tubagus said that after the investigation process was completed, a case title would be carried out to improve the status of the case from the investigation to the investigation stage. Case title can be done several times.

"If the statement concerned (Rizieq) is needed from the title of the case, he will be invited. If it is not summoned, it is enough, it is not necessary. Because the investigation is dynamic," he said.

"Or it is necessary to carry out an examination of the concerned case title recommendation from various elements. We should not consider it excessive, every person invited requires a statement," continued Tubagus.

Until now, the police have not planned a summons to Rizieq. Secretary of the DPP Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Aziz Yanuar, said Rizieq would obey the legal process if Rizieq was later summoned.

However, Aziz also asked the police to be fair in investigating the crowds that also occurred in various regions. The case he highlighted was the crowd of supporters of the candidate for Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming, when he registered his candidacy on 4 September.

"We obey the law and we don't ask for privileges. But, we ask for justice. We also ask (the crowd) to process it before, including the delivery of Gibran as a candidate for Mayor of Solo who did not keep his distance," said Aziz.

In addition, Aziz also highlighted the longmarch and the raising of the Red and White flag which was attended by thousands of members of the Multipurpose Ansor Barisan (Banser) in Banyumas, Central Java on Sunday, November 15.

"Then in November yesterday in Banyumas, we also found Banser holding a parade, long march. Habib Rizieq asked for justice as fairly as possible regarding cases of similar cases. When the elements of justice are met, Habib Rizieq must obey the law," said Aziz.

"Does the law only apply to Habib Rizieq? Right not. This law applies to all. We ask that it be enforced, including to the authorities. That's what we are asking for," he continued.
