BALIKPAPAN - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of the Balikpapan Meteorological Station predicts that eight regions (regencies/cities) in East Kalimantan Province (Kaltim) will experience heavy rain and lightning on Saturday, August 13.

The eight regions in East Kalimantan are Samarinda, North Penajam Paser, Paser, Mahakam Ulu, East Kutai, Kutai Kartanegara, West Kutai and Berau Regency.

The details are that in Samarinda City, thunderstorms are predicted to occur at around 14.00, 17.00 and 20.00 WITA in 10 sub-districts, namely Loa Janan Ilir, Sungai Kunjang, Sungai Pinang, Palaran, Samarinda Ilir, Samarinda Kota, Samarinda Seberang, Samarinda Ulu, North Samarinda, and Welcome District.

In Berau Regency, heavy rains and thunderstorms are predicted to occur around 17.00 and 20.00 WITA in eight sub-districts, namely Tanjung Redeb, Kelay, Gunung Tabur, Sambaliung, Segah, and Teluk Bayur Districts.

In West Kutai Regency, heavy rains and thunderstorms have the potential to occur in all sub-districts around 17.00 WITA, in Kutai Kartanegara District, almost all sub-districts, at around 14.00, 17.00 and 20.00 WITA.

In East Kutai Regency, at around 14.00 WITA, thunderstorms in Kongbeng and Muara Ancalong Sub-districts, while at 17.00 WITA until the evening it has the potential to occur in all sub-districts.

"For Mahakam Ulu, Paser, and North Penajam Paser Regencies, thunderstorms have the potential to occur in a number of sub-districts of these districts in the afternoon and evening tomorrow," said Heni.
