Arrested By Police At Home, 2 Students In Palembang Confess Desperately Flushing Hard Water On Victims Due To Personal Problems

PALEMBANG - Police officers from the Great City of Palembang, South Sumatra, arrested two perpetrators of pouring hard water on a group of SMK students and had to be hospitalized in this city due to severe burns.

The two perpetrators are men with the initials A (16) and P (15) residents of Ilir Timur II District, Palembang.

The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Palembang Polrestabes, Kompol Tri Wahyudi, said the perpetrator, who is still a student at a high school in Palembang, was arrested by the police at their respective homes on Monday at around 16.00 WIB.

"The perpetrators have been detained for examination regarding what they have done," he said in Palembang, Antara, Tuesday, August 9.

According to Tri, A and P are suspected of being the perpetrators of spraying hard water on three students of SMK Pembina 2 on Jalan Bambang Utoyo, Ilir Timur II District, Palembang, last Saturday morning.

Due to the watering, the three victims suffered injuries, even one of them suffered serious burns on the face and had to undergo treatment at the local Regional General Hospital.

To the police, he said, the perpetrators admitted that the watering action was triggered by a personal dispute that led to an attack between them and students at SMK Pembina 2.

"Considering that the perpetrators and victims are still students, we also involve the respective schools. For his actions, the perpetrators can be suspected of violating the Articles of Child Protection Law," he added.

Meanwhile, Head of the Palembang City Education Office, Ahmad Zulinto, said that his party considered the case to be legally processed because it was a crime that had injured someone.

So from there, he hopes, there will be a deterrent effect for students not to imitate or repeat similar events.

“We also hope that the school and parents must be more communicative to tighten supervision on students, such as checking attendance from the time they arrive until they come home from school. So if there are indications of disputes, they can be resolved immediately," he said.
