Regarding MenPAN RB Tjahjo Kumolo's Substitute, Hasto: After 40 Days Will Be Announced

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto said the replacement for the Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB) would be announced 40 days after the death of Tjahjo Kumolo.

However, he did not want to reveal the name proposed from the PDIP. Hasto only said that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) would choose the name of Tjahjo's successor from his cadres.

"The names have been discussed in depth and later, Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri together with President Jokowi, after 40 days after Mr. Tjahjo's death, will convey who will be his successor," Hasto told reporters in Jakarta, Sunday, August 7.

"What is clear is that it comes from PDI-P cadres," he said.

Hasto revealed that PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri and President Jokowi had also held several meetings. A number of the names of party cadres bearing the bull symbol who are suitable to serve as MenPAN RB have also been whispered into the ears of the former Governor of DKI Jakarta.

"In particular, several names have been submitted and then there is a finalization of some of those names," he said.

Tjahjo Kumolo died on July 1, 2022, due to illness. He was treated intensively at Abdi Waluyo Hospital, Jakarta.

To replace Tjahjo, Jokowi several times appointed an executor. One of them is the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, who will serve from July 4 to July 15, 2022.

Then, Jokowi appointed the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD as the executor of the task. This appointment was made on 15 July.
