It Is Indicated That Rizieq Shihab's Words For Reconciliation With The Government Are Only A Mere Gimmick

JAKARTA - Political observer of Indonesian Political Indicators, Burhanuddin Muhtadi, considers that the call for reconciliation between the leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Muhammad Rizieq Shihab to the government is just a gimmick.

Burhan considers that the reconciliation statement with a number of requirements is only limited to illustrating that figures who are opposed to the government still have the same goal, namely to develop Indonesia.

"I think the reconciliation statement is just a game rather than a factual reality. Reconciliation is indeed important. Anyone must make a gesture to give a positive signal that no matter how different, they have the same dream about Indonesia," said Burhanuddin in a virtual discussion held by the Political Journalists Forum (FJP). , Sunday, November 15th.

Moreover, if Rizieq and the government sit together to reduce their political tension, it does not mean that they are able to equalize the political attitudes of the two parties.

"Symbolic reconciliation may be shown, it is fine so that political tensions can subside at the lower levels, but it will not resolve sharp differences, at least until the Pak Jokowi era is over in 2024," said Burhanuddin.

"This is a culture war which cannot be resolved by simply eating together or taking photos together. But, this is also part of our diversity as a nation," he continued.

For information, through a broadcast by Front TV, Rizieq admits that he is ready to carry out reconciliation with the government. However, there are a number of conditions that must be met. One way is to free several police detainees.

"There are screams of reconciliation, how could reconciliation be held if the door to dialogue is not opened. Open the door to dialogue first, then reconciliation. Through this reconciliation, Rizieq also admits that he is ready to provide the best solution for the problems of the state that are currently befalling the people, nation and state, as well as officials and society.

He even said that the government only needed to prepare the time and place to start the dialogue to prepare for the reconciliation, as long as the government released several prisoners.
