East Jakarta BPBD Deploys Dozens Of Personnel To Anticipate Annual Floods

A total of 46 personnel from the East Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) were deployed to anticipate flood inundation ahead of the turn of the year 2024-2025.

"We have prepared a full team with 45 personnel to welcome the turn of New Year's Eve 2025 and in anticipation of flooding we have prepared the facilities and infrastructure we have," said Head of the East Jakarta BPBD Task Force, Sukendar when confirmed on Tuesday, December 31.

This anticipation is predicted to deal with the four-year cycle flood that occurred in DKI Jakarta on New Year's Eve 2020.

The East Jakarta BPBD has coordinated with the local village when there was a flood for distribution of facilities and infrastructure to flood locations considering that on New Year's Eve there could be a "crowded" on the track.

"Regions prone to flooding and local rain are located on the Ciliwung River track, such as Balekambang Village, Clilitan Village, Cawang Village, Bidara Cina Village, and Kampung Melayu Village," he said.

In addition, Susukan Village, Rambutan Village, Central Village, Dukuh Village, Pondok Bambu Village, Pondok Kelapa Village, Rawa Terate Village, East Cakung Village, Pinang Ranti Village, Makasar Village, Bambu Apus Village, Ceger Village and Cipinang Cempedak Village.

"Each point we have mapped according to what is set for the acceleration of information and launch of personnel as needed and equipment," he said.

The facilities and infrastructure that will be deployed, he added, are rubber boats (LCR) along with their completeness, refugee tents, operational service vehicles, and other logistics needs in the event of evacuation.

"We have coordinated with PMI Social Service, Firefighters, Mobile Brigade (Brimob), and several other relevant agencies", he said.

Meanwhile, the East Jakarta City Government (Pemkot) will alert a flood control team on New Year's Eve 2025.

"The flood control post, both at the City sub-district level. Learning experience in 2020, on New Year's Eve it rained heavily so that the East Jakarta area was flooded," said East Jakarta City Secretary, Kusmanto.

For the East Jakarta area, there are a number of flood-prone points such as Cipinang Melayu, Jatinegara, and Duren Sawit.

The East Jakarta City Government has also prepared a number of infrastructure facilities to minimize flooding on New Year's Eve.
