JAYAPURA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Papua Province has difficulty recording the conditions and needs of residents affected by natural disasters due to extreme weather conditions in Kuyawage District, Lanny Jaya Regency.

Papua BPBD Chief Executive William R Manderi said the team from BPBD and the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) had not yet reached the districts that were affected by extreme weather conditions in the form of frost and hail phenomena and then the drought.

"Yesterday the team left for Tiom, the capital city of Lanny Jaya, then returned to Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency, to make preparations before going to the field. However, the Lanny Jaya Police Chief did not allow it due to security factors," he said as reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 5 .

He said that until now BPBD had only obtained information about the conditions in the Kuyawage District from reports from Lanny Jaya's native medical personnel.

"This data is needed to identify the needs of residents affected by extreme frost weather, so that the assistance that will be distributed is in accordance with what is needed," he said.

BPBD sent food aid to Kuyawage District last week.

"We've been providing assistance since last week, so it's possible that now stocks will run low, therefore there must be more distribution of aid there," he said.
