Hide 3.6 Kg Of Evidence Of Methamphetamine, 2 Fishermen In Labuhanbatu, North Sumatra Become Suspects

MEDAN - Labuhanbatu Police, North Sumatra named two fishermen with the initials AS (37) and JI (46) as suspects. Both were named suspects for allegedly stealing 3.6 kg of crystal methamphetamine.

The Head of the Labuhanbatu Police, AKBP Anhar Arlia Rangkuti, explained that the disclosure of this case began when the police received information that 2 fishermen had obtained illegal meth weighing more than 20 kg in the waters of the Barumun River, Tanjung Lumba Lumba, North Sumatra.

"Furthermore, Panai Tengah Police personnel conducted an investigation by interviewing fishermen who found and rented 2 boats and then confiscated 20 packs of crystal methamphetamine stored by fishermen", said AKBP Anhar, Tuesday, August 2.

AKBP Anhar explained, that from the results of the development of the investigation, it turned out that the two perpetrators did not hand over all the methamphetamine they found. Both of them hid the remaining 3.6 kg of methamphetamine.

"From the development of these two suspects, finally 4 packs of methamphetamine were confiscated, which had been stored in black plastic weighing 3,603.34 grams", he said.

During the interrogation, the perpetrator admitted that he had deliberately kept the methamphetamine to sell it as business capital. Police are still investigating the owner of the methamphetamine.

Based on the disclosure of this case, the police confiscated 25 kg of methamphetamine.

"With the successful confiscation of 25 kg heavier than the gross methamphetamine, (the police) have saved 2.5 million people from drug addiction, if it is assumed that 1 gram is used by 10 people", he said.

Meanwhile, the two suspects were charged with Article 112 Paragraph 2 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics

"The maximum penalty is 20 years in prison", he said.
