Batik Air Airplane Brakes Suddenly During Takeoff, Management Apologizes

JAKARTA - The Batik Air plane with flight number ID-6236 braked suddenly when it was about to take off from Soekarno Hatta Airport (Soetta) to Makassar via Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Maros, South Sulawesi (UPG).

For this incident, Batik Air's management apologized to the passengers who were on the flight.

Even so, the Corporate Communications Strategic of Batik Air, Danang Mandala Prihantoro, ensured that the aircraft had been carried out according to standard operating procedures (SOP).

"Batik Air apologizes for the inconvenience that has caused flight ID-6236 to be disrupted. Batik Air runs services based on applicable regulations", he said when confirmed by VOI, Saturday, July 30.

Danang explained, that the plane with flight code ID-6236 is scheduled to depart at 05.30 WIB, and is expected to arrive at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport at 08.55 WITA.

In this flight, Batik Air is preparing to fly six crew members and 131 passengers.

After the stages and procedures for handling aircraft and guests on the ground are completed, the aircraft moves and is on the runway in preparation for take-off.

However, said Danang, the pilot decided to cancel and postpone the departure or rejected take-off (RTO).

"Because the condition of the engine speed is still low because there are indicators in the cockpit which indicate that one of the components on the aircraft needs to be checked further", he said.

Due to these conditions, continued Danang, the pilot reported the situation and steered the plane back to the area or parking area (apron).

"After the plane's position is in place, the cabin crew informs passengers to return to the waiting room of the airport departure terminal to get further information", he said.

Danang added that all airplane passengers with flight code ID-6236 had been flown using other Batik Air aircraft.

Flight ID-6236 is prepared using Airbus 320-200 registration PK-LUR with the status of the airworthy and safe condition.

"Flight ID-6236 uses a departure schedule at 09.19 WIB and an arrival time at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport at 12.24 WITA", he said.
