357 Heads Of Families Of Flash Flood Victims In Torue Parimo, Central Sulawesi Refuge

SIGI - The government of Parigi Moutong (Parimo) Regency, Central Sulawesi, said that up to now 357 families of victims of flash floods in Torue Village have fled to safe places.

"There are three evacuation points prepared by the village government, and the distribution of food so far has been smooth because many volunteers have helped," said Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Parigi Moutong, Idran, when met in Torue, Parigi Moutong, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 29.

Based on the local BPBD's rapid assessment, three out of five hamlets were severely affected in Torue Village, namely Hamlet 2, Dusun 3 and Hamlet 5 and those affected were now evacuated to the prepared places.

It is reported that the number of refugees from Hamlet 2 is 120 families, Dusun 3 is 50 families and Hamlet 5 is 166 families who are still in need of assistance.

As a result of the flash flood on Thursday (28/7) night, a number of affected facilities were recorded, including the Torue Village Office, the Torue Sub-district Office, elementary schools, early childhood education, junior high schools, mosques, fish auction sites and damage to the electricity network.

"Temporary data, seven houses of residents in Dusun 2 were washed away," said Idran, adding that there had been no development of information on the number of houses that were lightly, moderately and severely damaged.

The urgent need is clean water, mineral water, lighting and generator engines, ready-to-eat food, blankets and baby equipment.

In addition, the availability of logistics also continues to grow, such as instant noodles, suitable clothing, snacks and rice.

"We periodically evaluate the resilience of the logistics stock at the main post, and it is possible that there are still volunteers bringing aid," said Idran.

In the SAR operation sector, the search for the four missing victims is still continuing and will resume on Saturday (30/7) morning under the command of Basarnas and supported by other SAR potentials.

Reportedly, the first day's search has yielded no results. Where in the search for victims, two rubber boats were supported with the target of operating around the coast of Torue.

"The four missing victims are all women and one of them is a toddler," said Idran.
