Rizieq Plans 212 Reunion At Monas, Democrat: Better For Community Economic Support Activities

JAKARTA - Leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Muhammad Rizieq Shihab plans to hold a 212 Reunion event at the National Monument (Monas) area. The implementation is just waiting for permission from the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan.

Responding to this, Mujiyono suggested that the 212 Reunion be carried out in a different way, namely in the form of activities to help the community's economic recovery.

"It would be nice if the activity was made to alleviate the economy of the people who are currently deteriorating due to the COVID-19 pandemic," Mujiyono said when contacted by VOI, Thursday, November 12.

Mujiyono said that the mass gathering would definitely need funds for its implementation. According to him, it would be better if the funds were used for activities such as social services.

"Events like that will definitely pour out funds for its implementation. It would be very good if the funds were to help small traders or MSMEs. That would make the public more sympathetic," said Mujiyono.

Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, he continued, has not fully recovered. The transmission of the corona virus is still a concern. Activities like Reunion 212 are sure to be attended by a lot of people.

Mujiyono assessed that not all residents could consistently comply with health protocols when attending mass gathering, such as maintaining distance and wearing masks.

"For example, thousands of people gather, not necessarily all wearing masks orderly. No one can guarantee. Who knows, there are a number of people who are OTG. He interacts with many people and transmits COVID-19 to other people," said Mujiyono.

"Do not it because one or two people do not wear masks, are exposed, in the end they are considered to be disorderly in health protocols and in the end have defiled a good mother," he continued.

Even so, Mujiyono admitted that he did not prohibit the 212 Reunion activities. If Anies later allowed the use of Monas for mass gathering, Mujiyono asked the event organizers to guarantee compliance with health protocols.

"But I do not prohibit people from democracy, unifying and gathering. So, if possible, you don't have to gather in large numbers. If you want to gather, keep your distance and limit half of the total capacity," he concluded.
