In Bekasi, Tens Of Thousands Of Sinovac Vaccine Doses Are Just Counting Days To Expiration

JAKARTA - The Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) of the Bekasi District Health Office Pharmacy, West Java, recorded that tens of thousands of doses of the Sinovac brand of COVID-19 vaccine in the area entered expiration in early August 2022.

"In our Pharmacy UPTD vaccine warehouse, there are 21.834 doses of Sinovac vaccine stock and it expires on August 1, 2022," said Head of UPTD Pharmacy, Bekasi District Health Office, Bayu Biharussyfa in Cikarang, Wednesday, July 27, quoted from Antara.

Bayu said that the COVID-19 vaccine produced by China is predicted not to be used by the public even though it is available in large quantities.

Bayu claimed to have communicated with the West Java Provincial Health Office to pick up the vaccine before the expiration of the vaccine use.

"Vaccines whose use has expired have been recorded, just waiting to be picked up by Bio Farma through the West Java Provincial Health Office," he said.

His side noted that apart from the Sinovac vaccine, several other brands of COVID-19 vaccines will also expire, including the Covovac vaccine with a maximum time limit of use until Sunday (31/7).

"The stock of this brand of vaccine (Covovax) is also relatively large, around 36.820 doses," he said.

In addition, there is the AstraZenecca brand vaccine, which amounts to 3.330 doses with the deadline for use ending on Friday (12/8).
